Easter Weekend 2012

So last weekend we had a long, extended weekend. We had Friday AND Monday off!! I really got spoiled. The weekend was very busy, as usual.
Thursday Night: The school I am student teaching at, Water Valley High School, had their prom at the Powerhouse in Oxford. Some of my students really wanted Landon and I to come, so we decided we would. It was a lot of fun. The teachers did a GREAT job decorating. The students were pretty well behaved. I was really proud.

Friday: I got to spend the day running errands in Memphis with my sweet friend Kenna. Friday night we had our Good Service Friday/ Lord's Supper. Sweet time of fellowship with the Lord and other believers!
Saturday: Our friend's, Brandy and Shannon Barrett, let us stay at their house for the weekend. Not only is she a great friend, but also my hairdresser! Check out my new do!

Saturday afternoon Landon and I went on a little day date. ChickfilA at the park then Hunger Games. The movie was.... weird to say the least.

Saturday Night we went to my Aunt Lynn's and had Easter with my mom's side of the family. Good BBQ and card games. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday: Resurrection Sunday. Great service with Lifepoint Tunica. My husband and the worship team did a great job leading us in song and Marcus brought the Word, as usual. Then Easter with Landon's family.
Me, Megan, Anna, Memaw, Mrs. Jill

Gid just chillin.

Me and My man. He is lookin goooddd.

Monday: So even though I had the day off, Landon did not. He did surprise me and skip his first class so we could hang out. We had a picnic at the park and play card games. Later that night, we ate dinner with our friends Matt and Haley.

I know my blog is super boring. I am not a good writer. I do love keeping an account of what is happening in my life though :)

Spring Break Until Now

My life in the past couple of weeks has not been crazy or stressful as much as it has been chill. I can't say the same for Landon, so it's a good thing we equal each other out, right? Let me take a quick walk through the last couple of weeks.
Mid- March we had spring break, which was a well-needed rest becuase I had just recently taught my 10-day at school, so I was pretty exhausted. Spring break was relaxing for me. I got to spend a lot of time with my sweet husband playing the old school Mario games on the Wii :)

Thursday: Surprise birthday dinner for J-Dub!

The birthday boy isn't looking, but this is the best I have!

Monday: We stayed at the house most of the day, then had dinner wtih Christina and Landon Anderson.
Tuesday: Doctors appointments and got to hang out with Matt, Haley, Andrew, and Kenna.
Wednesday: Chill day at home.
Thursday: Hung out with Megan and Gideon while Landon did stuff in Tunica. Megan and I went to get our toes done while Matt watched Gideon for us!
Friday: Chill day at home.
Saturday: Baby shower for Charlotte and a little shopping!

*I'm really mad that I don't have more pictures. I am really slacking.*

Other fun events that have occured in our life.
Some of our best friends, Andrew and Kenna, got engaged!!!!!!!!!! Truly, I was way to excited about this to the point where Andrew stopped answering Landon and I's calls/texts prior to the actual engagement.
Waiting to get the call.

Telling us the story.

The ring. Great job, Andrew!

We don't eat these much but.... BBQ nachos and coke! Yum.

Hang out with my nephew while his parents are in Rome, Italy!

Facials with my sister and step-mom!

And here is another random picture of me, Haley, and Kenna when we went out to eat like 2 months ago!

This picture was also like two months ago with andrew and kenna when we went to eat with them at Ajax.

Mushy moment, but this is one of my favorite sites to see.... Landon playing his guitar.

I can truly say I love my life and all the blessings the Lord continues to shower me with.

Passing by the Idols

So I love the times when multiple quiet times from different days and passages all have the same theme. Usually, that means the Lord is really convicting me or trying to drive a point home to my heart. Lately, its been about idols.

We talk alot about idols in the modern day church, but reading through the chronological bible study I've seen how God dealt with idols among the Israelites and trust me, it was not pretty. People lost their lives over this stuff. It all began with this simple phrase that rang throughout the book of Deuteronomy....

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" (paraphrasing)

Simple enough verse. I've heard it over and over and over again, but lately I have been asking myself... do I really love God that much? Sadly, the answer has been (and probably continues to be) no. There is always a reasoning for everything and this is no different. There has to be a reason why I don't love God as much I desire and He deserves and there is........ Idols.

Throughout the past couple of days in the books of Joshua and Judges I've learned some things about Idols.

1. God gives me a choice: Him or Idols? I can not be devoted to both. I serve one and hate the other. Joshua 24:15
2.I don't destroy or get rid of the idols, I just pass by them. If I don't get rid of them, they constantly battle for my affection and time. Judges 3:26
3. When I destroy idols, I must replace them with things of the Lord. If i dont, I will just end up re-building those idols I have already done away with. Judges 6:25-26
4. I must study and know scripture so I can know what pleases the Lord and what doesnt- not just take someone else's word for it. Judges 17:1-4
5. Idols end up creeping back into my life because I fail to thank God for what He has graciously done in my life through salvation and other blessings. Judges 8:33-34

This is a lot for me to take in and I have no idea what this means for my life, but I am praying that I will be obident to whatever it is the Lord is calling me to do.

BTW, my Lifegroup members might be thinking about how I said sometimes Landon is an idol for me, but don't worry I'm not replacing him or destroying him! Don't worry, babe! I just have to get my priorities straight, which I'm finding is a constant struggle for me being married!
